Today marks the last day of E3 2008 and Sony’s Playstation Portable seems to have been all but forgotten. Sure, we’re getting a couple of sequels along with a custom built Resistance – but the horizon is looking pretty bleak PSP owners.
Just look at this list of PSP titles on IGN’s E3 page:
The list doesn’t even fill a full page, while all other systems (yes, including the DS) have at least 4 pages worth of games. Even worse for the PSP is that some of the games listed on it’s page have long since been released.
Just when the little-system-that-could finally started to pick up momentum it seems to have stalled in it’s tracks. At Sony’s press conference it felt like they spent more time on the PS2 than then did with the PSP.
Is piracy really that big of a problem for the system that its keeping developers away? I can’t be the only PSP owner who actually purchases PSP games, can I?
I’m looking forward to Resistance and Patapon 2 (jury is out on LocoRoco2) but after than, then what?
Feels like the PSP is currently on life support

I have a severe case of ‘Gadget Envy’ brewing right now. While checking out the capabilities of the iPod Touch for Ev I’ve become somewhat smitten with the device myself. The iPhone is out of the question for me, but the iPod Touch sure would be a nice consolation prize. Granted the last thing in the world I need right now is another gadget in the gadget bag. Not to mention I already have a Pocket PC that can do pretty much everything the iPod touch can, just not nearly as well. As always though, it boils down to want vs. need.
Currently i have an 80GB iPod, and while it’s not full it does have more content on it than could fit on even the largest iPod touch. I would be willing to trade that space for the Touch’s extra features if only the price was a bit more ‘reasonable’.
Maybe I’ll pick one up for Ev and just use hers instead of getting one myself

Is there such a thing as ’side-grading’? A process that is neither up nor down-grading? If so thats exactly how I feel about picking up a new SD1000 point and shoot from Canon.
While it does boast some new features over my SD900, I don’t feel I’m being completely honest saying it’s an upgrade.
Regardless of that fact, it is quite a stellar little camera. So far I have been extremely pleased with my initial tests, and for the price you just can’t beat it. Not to mention the size of this thing, it’s puny!
Had it not been for our upcoming Grand Cayman trip I probably would’ve stuck it out with the SD900 a bit longer, but I wanted to have a camera that can come swimming. While the SD1000 itself isn’t waterproof, the underwater housing I am going to borrow from my brother definitely is

Just came across this mini surge via Engadget This handy little guy would allow me to ditch my DS and PSP chargers while on the go, even when not traveling with a laptop. For $25 you can count me in for one as soon as it’s released.
I always travel with a powerstrip anyway, but this takes the cake!

Will have to keep an eye out for it.

I’m not complaining about my SD900. No way, no how. It’s just… well, the SD1100 is blue! I’ve never owned a blue camera before and I’m finding it very difficult to resist.
Actually, it’s not the blue that is reeling me in. It’s the enhanced features of the SD1000 that I’ve been missing out on plus a whole extra megapixel.
Hopefully I’ll be able to pick this up alongside an underwater case for our trip to Grand Cayman in April!

Thanks to Google documents I’ve now realized I have a love of spreadsheets and statistics. Not of useful information mind you, but of much more innate things such as my video game spending habits. I did a pretty good job of keeping track of my spending last year with Google Docs. Enough to tell you that I obtained (via trades and purchases) 46 video games in 2007. The total value for these games (MSRP) $1,775.00 of which I only spent $536.00 saving a grand total of $1,239.00
I’m got a few more useless facts from last year, but nothing that will compare to the spreadsheet I just cooked up for 2008. This year I plan to capture not only cost and savings information, but also such benign facts as how many days after a game’s release did I wait to pick it up, how long I hold on to games before trading them away, and how it all relates to extending my gaming budget.
Very nerdy, yes I know – but I’m eagerly awaiting getting my first bits of data into this spreadsheet to watch all the formulas come to life. Be sure to check back at the end of 2008 to see how the stats pan out

Finally got around to upgrading my laptop’s memory to its max of 2GB. Quite the improvement over the meager 512MB that was installed. I have to hand it to my laptop, it has treated me well for the past few years, and hopefully with it’s new found RAM has some good years ahead of it yet.
